"The continued existence of wildlife and wilderness is important to the quality of life of humans" - Jim Fowler.  

A meaningful and engaging Design Thinking session was conducted with the Senior Trail children which encouraged them to look beyond the beauty of wildlife and understand the importance of protecting animals and their habitats.

The learning journey began with an asynchronous exploration, as a video and an online article from India Today on National Endangered Species Day, which were shared with the children in Google Classroom prior to the session being conducted in class.

 This laid the foundation for a thought-provoking classroom discussion, where children explored why certain animals are becoming endangered. They recognised the impact of human intervention, making the protection of endangered species a shared responsibility.

Through the ‘Empathise’ and ‘Define’ stages of Design Thinking, the children stepped into the world of endangered animals and reflected on the challenges they faced. They brainstormed possible solutions and transformed their ideas into creative prototypes designed to protect animals and their habitats.

The session beautifully captured the children’s natural imagination, empathy and intuitive thinking. Their innovative prototypes reflected their ability to look at a real-world problem from different perspectives and envision meaningful solutions. Collaborative and hands-on approach to problem-solving made the experience both purposeful and enjoyable. It also empowered the children to realise that even small ideas can contribute towards creating a safer and more sustainable world for wildlife.
