The Vedic System

The Vedas, like any other scriptures, are eternal inspires. They inspire us to lead higher lives. The school encourages the children to imbibe the Indian value set., culture and ethics as defined by our scriptures. The Sandhya is recited on Thursdays and on Fridays the students participate in the Havan. They learn to chant OM, the Gayatri mantra with its meaning and how to meditate into themselves.

Yoga

Our mission is to empower students and teachers with yoga-inspired exercises to promote lifetime wellness and so that students and teachers develop body-mind awareness and the ability to nurture their own well-being.

THE TEN PRINCIPLES OF THE ARYA SAMAJ

  1. The first (efficient) cause of all knowledge and all that is known through knowledge is Parameshvara.
  2. Ishvara is existent, intelligent and blissful. He is formless, omnipotent, just, merciful, unborn, endless, unchangeable, beginningless, unequalled the support of all, the master of all, omnipresent, emminent, unageing, immortal, fearless, eternal and holy, and the maker of all. He alone is worthy of being worshipped.
  3. Vedas are the scriptures of all knowledge. It is the first duty of an Arya to study them, teach them, recite them, and hear them being recited.
  4. One should always be ready to accept the truth and give up untruth.
  5. One should do everything according to the dictates of Dharma, i.e. after due reflection over right and wrong.
  6. The primary object of the society is to do good to the whole world, i.e. to look after its physical, spiritual and social welfare.
  7. One’s dealings with all should be regulated by love and justice in accordance with the dictates of Dharma.
  8. One should promote vidya (realization of subject and object) and dispel avidya (illusion).
  9. One should not be content with one’s own welfare alone but should look after the welfare of all.
  10. One should inevitably follow the altruistic principles of promoting the welfare of society, but is free to follow the path of individual welfare.

Meal Time Prayers

Before starting eating, students should put their hands together and recite the following mantra with devotion. Their family members should join them. At the last word ‘Shantih’, all should bow their head.  Food should be accepted and eaten gracefully with grati
tude.

“Family that prays together, eats together, stays together”.

Om Annapate annasya no dehyanamivasya shushminah,Pra pradataaram taarish urjam no dhehi dvipade chatushpade.

Om Shantih, Shantih, Shantih ! — Yajurveda 11.83

O Lord Giver of nourishment. Bless us all with the wealth of pure and life-giving food.

We remember with gratitude at this moment, the farmers who have toiled to bring us this food to our table. Spare them O Lord! from any hardship or unhappiness.

May the animals of the farmyard, who have worked by their side be given strength to carry on their selfless service, so that we may grow in strength.

O Lord, Creator of the Universe, bless us all with the gift of peace
Peace be on Thy Earth, Thy waters, Thy sky, Thy eternal space
Peace be in fire, in wind, be it in all herbs, creepers, plants and trees
Peace be unto all.

May peace be the essence of the words of elders
Be it the clarion call of the brave in the battlefield
May peace reside in the wealth of the king
The toil of man be an endless search for peace.

May peace pervade the building of nations
Be it enshrined in every city, town and hamlet.
May every home be an abode of peace
Peace be unto all.
